National Institute of Technology Calicut, Kerala has invited applications for admission to PhD Programmes in the following streams of December 2011 to (i) Full-time (FT) (ii) Part-time (PT) (iii) Internal (IN) and (iv) External (EX) schemes.

For the Part-time and External schemes of registration, the applicant must be an employ of a recognized institution / organization with at least two years of service and be engaged in professional work in the area to which admission is sought. Candidates under Part-time scheme will have to submit no objection certificate from the head of the institution.
External registration is available only for candidates sponsored by and employed in recognized research institutions such as Research and Development Organizations / National Laboratories / and Industries having R & D facilities recognized by Department of Science and Technology. Candidates applying for external and Part-time scheme of registration do not require GATE score or UGC / CSIR / NBHM / NET fellowship.
Eligibility and Academic Requirements:
I. Faculty of Engineering
MTech Degree in Engineering / Technology in the appropriate branch of study with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5/10) [For SC / ST candidates, the minimum mark is 50% (CGPA 5.5/10)].
II. Faculty of Architecture
Master’s degree in Architecture / Design / Planning / Engineering / Technology or its equivalent with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5/10) [For SC / ST candidates, the minimum mark is 50% (CGPA 5.5/10)].
III. Faculty of Nanoscience & Technology
MTech Degree in any discipline of Engineering / Technology / Nanoscience & Technology with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5/10) [For SC / ST candidates, the minimum mark is 50% (CGPA 5.5/10)] OR
Master’s degree in Chemistry / Physics / Life science / Nanoscience and Technology with first class or minimum 60 % marks (CGPA 6.5/10) or equivalent, [for SC / ST candidates, the minimum mark is 50% (CGPA 5.5/10)] and a valid GATE score or UGC / CSIR / NBHM / NET / KCSTE fellowship in the relevant area, tenable from the current year.
IV. Faculty of Biotechnology
MTech Degree in Biotechnology / Life Science with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5/10) [For SC / ST candidates, the minimum mark is 50% (CGPA 5.5/10)] OR
Master’s degree in Life science with first class or minimum 60 % marks (CGPA 6.5/10) or equivalent, [for SC / ST candidates, the minimum mark is 50% (CGPA 5.5/10)] and a valid GATE score or UGC / CSIR / NBHM / NET / KCSTE fellowship in the relevant area, tenable from the current year.
V. Faculty of Science (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics)
Master’s degree in Mathematics / Statistics / Chemistry / Physics with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5/10) or equivalent, [for SC / ST candidates, the minimum mark is 50% (CGPA 5.5/10)] and a valid GATE score or UGC / CSIR / NBHM / NET / JEST / KCSTE fellowship in the relevant area, tenable from the current year.
VI. Faculty of Management Studies
Post graduates programme or equivalent with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5/10) or equivalent [for SC / ST candidates the minimum marks is 50% (CGPA 5.5/10)] and NET / UGC / CSIR fellowship in the relevant area tenable form the current year.
Candidates with master’s degree in engineering and technology or architecture with GATE Score OR having Managerial experience for not less than 5 years OR when applying for Part time / Internal / External scheme of registration do not require UGC / NET / CSIR / JRFfellowship.
